Pilot International

Friendship and Service

From its beginnings more than a century ago, Pilots have dedicated themselves to serving the needs of their local communities. Founded in 1921 in Macon GA, Pilots are committed to the guiding principles of friendship and service.

Originally designed as a volunteer service organization for business and professional women, Pilot International has since expanded to include men and women from around the globe and in all walks of life.

Pilot International is a proud member of the Service Club Leaders Conference along with organizations such as Lions Club International, Rotary International, and Kiwanis International among others.

What's In A Name?

Pilot International

The Pilot organization was founded in 1921, before commercial air travel became common place. In the early decades of the 20th century Pilots were more often heroes of the waves than the air.

Riverboat pilots were highly esteemed navigators who skillfully guided the mighty steamboats of the day through river shallows and harbor currents.

In the optimistic decades of a new century, the recently established organization took the Pilot name in honor of the leadership abilities and expert guidance of the riverboat pilots who steered a true course through calm or troubled waters.

Anchor Club

Anchor Clubs, the youth volunteer division of Pilot International, extend the nautical theme of their parent organization with an emphasis on developing the character traits that provide stability when wind and waves threaten to drive a ship off course.

Taking inspiration from their name, Anchor Club's professionally developed curriculum and strategic national partnerships strive to instill six fundamental qualities in high school age students destined to become tomorrow's community service leaders:

  • Altruism

  • Noble Purpose

  • Citizenship

  • Honor

  • Open-Mindedness

  • Responsibility
